We are back on the Melting Point Pavilion for the April installment of our monthly show!  The Pavilion is located in the center of the Foundry Park Inn complex where the Melting Point is located.  We LOVE the pavilion as we’re outside, under cover, in an intimate and festive atmosphere.  Hoyt House provides us with a special menu for our show.  Don’t miss your chance to come listen to music under the Pavilion and eat some good food there!  This month we have a fantastic line up featuring The Skipperdees, twin sisters who play banjo, guitar, trumpet and sing great harmony’s.  Also from Canton, GA, Vacant House, a full out rockabilly, old country band!  AND we have the Vinyl Strangers doing pop tune originals with harmony’s A’ La Beatles!!  Susan Staley opens and hosts.  Visit athensfolk.org for more info OR the Athens Folk Society’s Facebook page!

The Athens Folk Music and Dance Society Presents:

The Hoot Monday March 12  @ The Melting Point

Our monthly show continues with a night full of great music. First up is Kiss Your Darling, focusing on tight celtic and old-time harmony vocals woven by Athens natives Fiona Sheehan and Ali Sanders. Multi-instrumentalist Joe Willey makes subtle understatements with guitar, fiddle and banjo.

Borderhop 5 will do a set of traditional, driving bluegrass music with a full bluegrass band: guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and bass. The group is named for Hal Miseri and John Evans’ favorite state-border beer store. John, one of the best flat pickers in the area, is also known as “Johnny Fabulous.”

Local singer-songwriters Natalie Garcia & Dave Dowless have teamed up for a project which will premier at this Hoot! Natalie has a unique and refreshing voice, and Dave is as solid as they come.

The Darnell Boys will end the evening with Austin, Caleb and Gus Darnell playing gut wrenching blues and country music. The Darnells have a way of taking a simple line and exposing every facet, which puts them on a footing with some of the best traditional blues artists.

Joe Willey will be our guest host for the evening!

This month the Folk Society’s music variety show continues as we welcome Between Naybors, which features Greg Benson, Melanie Morgan,  and Dale Wechsler.  They’ll be doing a set of folky originals ( www.reverbnation.com/betweennaybors).  Also, returning to the Hoot isMrJordanMrTonks, which is Tommy & William doing acoustic versions of rock songs and more on Dobro & Guitar & Harmony Vocals.  And Rachel Lynn, singer, songwriter doing folk with a touch of roots rock. ( www.rachellynnmusic.com)   And we will also welcome The Skipperdees, a folk duo will do a special opening set!!  So, LOTS OF MUSIC VARIETY this month!!!

Moira Nelligan

This month our show will return to the outdoor pavilion in the center of Foundry Park Inn where the Melting Point is located.  This is a fantastic spot for music and the Hoyt House provides delicious food!  If the weather is cool, we’ll drop the sides and they’ll provide propane heat….we LOVE the Pavillion, come check it out and check out our fantastic evening of music variety!

We welcome Moira Nelligan & The Dixie Jigs!  Moira was born on St. Paddy’s in Savannah…Irish music was her destiny!  She is joined by mandolin master George Norman and her son Micky.  Also, singer/songwriter Josh Daniels who will be doing his own melodic and thoughtful music along with a small ensemble including his dad, Dick Daniels on bass.  And the country band, The Adams Family will belt out some classic country songs featuring Dana Downs on vocals.  Susan Staley opens and hosts the evening.  athensfolk.org or visit our facebook page for more information!
