The Hoot, Monday August 13th 2012

The Athens Folk Music & Dance Society Presents:

The Hoot
Monday Aug 13
8-10pm @ The Melting Point
admission is FREE

Our monthly music variety show continues with a very special show! This month we are excited and honored to be hosting three bands from the Atlanta area, including the
#1 and #2 PASTE MAGAZINE Atlanta Bands to Watch in 2012!

Little Tybee
“Delicately constructed orchestral pop music with enough adventure to keep wandering ears at bay”
Featuring vocalist/guitarist/pianist Brock Scott, 8-string guitarist Josh Martin, violinist Nirvana Kelly, bassist Ryan Donald, and percussionist Pat Brooks, doing lilting pop ballads and sprawling orchestral melodies. http://papergardenrecords.com/bands/records/little-tybee/

Adron
Classical/jazz guitarist/vocalist Adron makes “South American tropicália-inspired folk that sounds unlike anything else in Atlanta’s music scene. It’s not standard indie-pop, and it’s certainly not Americana-style folk. You can’t even say she lands somewhere in between” –Atlanta Music Guide (http://www.adronworld.com/)

And also, one of our favorite groups who played the North Georgia Folk Fest last year,

Moira Nelligan And The Dixie Jigs
Steeped in Celtic, Gypsy and Eastern European music the band features Moira on fiddle and accordion, mandolin virtuoso George Norman, and soon to be off to Berkley School of Music, Micky Nelligan on guitar.

This promises to be a stellar night of music! And as always a free show, so please come out and show your appreciation for these musicians who generously share their talents! Susan Staley opens and hosts the show. athensfolk.org or visit our facebook page!
