Folk Week and the North Georgia Folk Festival

Hey Friends –

We are deep into Folk Week here in Athens, with performances by

The Skillet Lickers, with Tommy Jordan, Dick Daniels, Art Rosenbaum, Russ Tanner, Phil Tanner and Andrew Lentini. Rob Homes is host and William Tonks arrived just in time to play but not soon enough to get in the picture.

 

The Skillet Lickers on It’s Friday last week, and by Art Rosenbaum (Sunday) and Claire Campbell (last night) at the World Famous.  It’s been great so far.

We continue tonight (Tuesday) with MrJordanMrTonks at the World Famous (Hull St, Athens) – music starts at 8:30 and goes until 10:30 or so.

Wednesday will be Adam Klein at the World Famous.  Thursday is Joe Willey, The Ale Raisers and friends at the Two Story Coffee House in 5 Points.  Friday, Oct 10, the Contradance at the Carver Dance Studio at UGA.

Saturday, Oct 11 is the 30th Annual North Georgia Folk Festival to be held at Sandy Creek Park, off Hwy 441 north of Athens.  Music, arts, crafts and food all day from 11:00am until 9:00pm.  It’s always one on the best events of the year. This year our headliner is the great Norman Blake, who will take the stage at 4:30 in the afternoon.
